    I think Officer …
I think Officer Powell did his job right up to the point the nurses and other staff coming out to advise the mother in law was dying. At that time he should have let them go.. This HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE..It was just poor judgement.

    officer also pulled …
officer also pulled and POINTED his gun at moats’ wife then LIED about it… of course somehow you skipped this. The officer was an embarassment and much credit to the chief for not covering up this bad apple. At the very least it gives the mature calm officers a chance to shine

    Mr. Moats should …
Mr. Moats should have stopped immediately and explained to the officer the situation. He escalated it unecessarily. I agree that the Officer may have allowed it to get out of control but Moats was 100% wrong by not stopping. Here in Nj that is an indictable offense and would justify a felony stop. I have let people go after checking their credentials and in most caes not mailed summonses but that is an option that could have been explored had Mr. Moats stopped and explained.

Thank you for the excellent video Dr. Weinblatt. We live in Dallas. As you can imagine, this was a huge story ! This was an unfortunate situation for all concerned. I do feel the Dallas Police Department handled this PR nightmare extremely well.

    Thanks for your …
Thanks for your good point, but it is too simplistic. Professional policing is not simply black and white (no pun there) it is shades of grey. Officers deal with people in crisis- that is what we train for. The Moats family were in crisis and did not need a robotic, automatic response. If that was the case, we would have robot speed cameras everywhere, but we don’t. We have humans as officers to have compassion for other human beings. Discretion is a key word here.

    … or maybe if …
… or maybe if Moats had stopped first and explained what was happening and not ignored a police car with light flashing telling him to pull over, he would have reveivd no ticket and gotten an escort to the hospital…. and I’m sure Powell will get another job in another juristiction once all the hoopla over this is over….
